Job Title : Photonics Design (Process) Senior Research Engineer/Principal Research Engineer/Manager

OVERVIEW & IMPACT:

Samsung Electronics Device Solutions is a global leader in Semiconductor Industry. Regional Headquarters in South East Asia - Samsung (Device Solutions) team in Singapore is looking for a photonic IC Designer who has experience in Si photonics processing. This role will be involved in R&D activities in the field of silicon photonics and translational works to incorporate silicon photonics onto Co-package optics (CPO). This position is based in Singapore.

Job Description  :

• Champion PIC design and layout for customers and other internal projects.
• Design and develop novel active devices and passives for Si photonics with internal Samsung counterparts and external collaborators.
• Perform component and circuit-level simulations.
• Perform microfabrication in cleanrooms and the testing of devices on a need-be basis.
• Support CPO-related strategic projects on a need-be basis

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:

Requirements:

Msc or PhD (preferred) in Physics, Engineering with specialization in Si photonics or optics.

• Minimum 3 years working experience in the area of integrated photonics design with demonstrated track record in passive component and circuit simulation. Experience in design of active components (e.g. modulators) will be added advantage.
• Hands-on wafer fabrication experience in cleanroom.
• Experience in the handling of optical probe stations for optical testing of passives and active devices.
• Familiar with simulation and IC design layout tools (e.g. Lumerical, Zemax, KLayout).
• Flexible and adaptable mindset and thrives in a dynamic working environment.
• Proficient in spoken and written English. Ability to converse in Korean will be an added advantage.
